This is a press release on the new Bramall Music Building written by Ian Weightman.
The newest multi-million pound concert performance, conference, meetings and events venue in the West Midlands is set to open its doors to the public on Sunday, June 10
The Bramall Music Building, featuring the Elgar Concert Hall, is a new and hugely impressive state-of-the art building on the University of Birmingham campus, which completes a one hundred years old vision.
Costing approximately £18-million to construct, The Bramall Music Building finally completes the semi-circle of buildings around the Chancellor’s Court at the centre of which stands the magnificent Great Hall - home, most recently, to such events as the televised Leaders’ Debate during the General Elections and BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow.
A vision which first started to take shape during the 19th century was delayed over 100 years ago when the decision was taken to build the Clock Tower before the fifth domed building. Finances, and the onset of the First World War, subsequently contrived to put the scheme on hold. But in addition to now completing one of the most architecturally impressive red brick crescents, the new building is also topped-off with a dome roof - bringing the original plans for five domes to a hugely satisfying conclusion.
Awe-inspiring on the outside, it is nothing short of jaw-dropping on the inside, where no expense has been spared in filling it with all of the latest gadgets and gizmos to ensure it will remain at the cutting edge for decades to come.
The 450-seat Elgar Concert Hall has been constructed using as its acoustic model Birmingham Symphony Hall – regarded world-wide as the leader in its field.
Sharp, modern and stylish in design, The Bramall Music Building will now be used for conferences, meetings, product launches, and concerts – and has both a moveable stage and seating to ensure a perfect fit for any occasion. Break-out meeting rooms, and a foyer capable of hosting other gatherings, complete the picture.
All of it is “high end”, making it a premium product. But the emphasis still rests squarely on giving the user great value for money. The Bramall Music Building will be given a soft launch to the local community, who will be given free access to it during an Open Day on Sunday, June 10th
But it will be officially launched in November of this year.
