The Great Hall is the University’s ceremonial hall used for all of the most significant events in the academic calendar - and for many private events too. This Hall has hosted events as diverse as the Party Leaders Debate in the 2010 General Election and the Antiques Roadshow.
Set in one of the University’s original, late Victorian red-brick buildings, the Great Hall makes an incredible impression.
Its elegant entrance at the end of Chancellors Court draws you into an opulent marble foyer. Here your guests can enjoy a glass of champagne under the stately rotunda before dining and celebrating in the stained-glass grandeur of the hall itself.
It is a flexible venue space that can be used for a wide range of events, from conferences, to weddings, or award ceremonies, or exhibitions for up to 1000 people seated in theatre style.
The Great Hall can also cater for banquets and fine dining for up to 430 people and there is also a capacity of 650 square metres for exhibitions and product launches. The Great Hall is also available as one of the most stunning wedding venues available in Birmingham.
The Great Hall is a truly magnificent setting for any event.
The hall and the marble foyer are part of the original university buildings. The impressive stained glass window behind the stage is an attractive feature of the hall and the domed ceiling of the foyer is a wonderful example of trompe l’oeil painting.
