The Great Hall

overview

The Great Hall is the University of Birmingham's most prestigious venue, hosting many of the University's primary events throughout the academic calendar; It also lends it's splendour to private and corporate functions and televised events including the 2010 General Election Leaders Debate and the Antiques Road Show.

The Great Hall at the University of Birmingham

The Great Hall is located in the University’s original, late-Victorian red-brick building, The Aston Webb. Its elegant entrance draws you into an opulent marble foyer where guests can enjoy a glass of champagne under the stately rotunda and domed ceiling of the foyer, with it's wonderful example of trompe l’oeil painting; before dining and celebrating in the stained-glass grandeur of the hall itself.

It provides a flexible venue space to suit any event type from conferences to weddings and award ceremonies, with a maximum capacity of up to 1000 people seated in theatre style. The Great Hall caters for formal banquets and fine dining, seating up to 400 people and also providing 650 square metres of floor space for exhibitions and product launches. The Great Hall is a truly magnificent setting that will certainly create the right impression and a memorable experience for you and your guests.
